Victim blaming is prevalent where rape culture thrives. Rape culture is said to be thriving when frequent cases of sexual violence is normalised and the society readily justifies their occurrences.

It can be seen through media glorification of sexually explicit jokes, and objectification of women’s bodies. It’s also reflected through statements like ‘boys will be boys’, and the portrayal of women as having sexual power over men so that she may be conveniently accused of ‘inviting’.
